Noise is among your occupants’ top complaints. Whether it’s a hotel guestroom or an apartment building, noise transmission is bad news for privacy and quality sleep. Can modular construction fix this problem? Read on.
GREAT NEWS! Modular Construction Provides an Automatic Fix to Noise Complaints from Adjacent Units
Modular factories prepare each volumetric box as a separate unit. This means that each module has its own walls/floor/ceiling and no two adjacent modules share a common surface—resulting in a small air gap between modules. It turns out that these air gaps improve sound insulation. Which in turn provides a much higher STC to the modular walls, we have discussed all about STC here previously.
Sound transfers mainly by vibration. Air gaps between walls disconnect the path for the vibration to travel.
