Pushing Forward amid the Slowdown

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Let’s Slow Down a Little… and Keep Pushing Forward

Yet another Covid-19 article—you’ve had enough of them. I can relate!

If you’re still optimistically reading, I thank you. Consider this our small effort to provide some emotional relief during this unfair crisis. Stay healthy, stay indoors, and slow down a little!

Pajamas and Kids!

Many of you might be working from home—putting on the work shirt over your pajamas with the kids running the show! Welcome to the daily lives of our team. The process goes a lot better when you get into a routine. Ask us for tips!

CEO Dr. Garry Vermaas works among his 12 children who remain off from school.

Moving Forward

The pandemic may have shaken the economy, but we can bounce back by being adaptable, flexible, and determined–and by continuing to move ahead. We care about our global team’s wellness and are proud of their resiliency, optimism, and response. One reason we’re staying as productive as ever is our coordinated plan of utilizing technology, a flexible work policy, and automation–just as we’ve always done.

We continue to push our current and upcoming design projects to give our clients one less thing to worry about.

This effort is our attempt to show by example how we–the AEC industry–can adopt smarter ways to holistically tackle just about any economic and geographic adversity. Here are a few things you can start doing right away:

  • Store everything on the cloud; take backups of all your data.
  • Define SOPs for all repetitive work, so you won’t have to rely on any specific person/team to keep things moving.
  • Devise a work from home policy.
  • Take breaks from the news and read instead!

Preparing for the Coming Times

The travel and hospitality industries have taken a hit, and the market will take its time to recover. But as industry leaders, we can make the most of this situation through innovation and creative problem-solving.

Construction technologies like prefab and modular have been used to provide emergency healthcare. Cloud-based coordination (BIM) allows pre-construction processes to sail smoothly. Also, increasing digitization helps move projects ahead- even with logistical challenges.

As our communities come to a standstill, we must take the lead to help the world meet the needs of the day and recover from this crisis. It’s beyond business at this point–now is the time to unite and serve through our leadership.

Join us in our problem-solving efforts, and please connect with me to offer your thoughts or questions!

Thank you,
