Cannabis might make you think of drugs and Woodstock! But cannabis is a plant and non-addictive with many medicinal uses. Adult-use cannabis is the US’s 6th most valuable crop. Leafly’s data is limited to only the production of adult-use cannabis harvested in 13,297 active legal cannabis farms.1
Worth $6.2 billion in 2020, the wholesale harvest value of adult-use cannabis is now America’s fifth most valuable crop, trailing only corn ($61 billion), soybeans ($46 billion), hay ($17.3 billion), and wheat ($9.3 billion).

Cannabis includes hemp and marijuana. The psychoactive component of the plant, THC, is used for recreational purposes. Cannabis also contains non-psychoactive components, including CBD, which contributes to its medicinal uses.
