Jinggangshan Statue Completion
Base4 is excited to announce the completion of the Jinggangshan Statue, a non-traditional project, in Jiangxi Province China. The Jianggangshan Statue stands with a total height of 160’ making it one of the tallest statues in all of China. The project is located in the Jiangxi River Forest Region and stands atop a scenic mountain 1,500’ above sea level. The statue depicts five Red Army soldiers preparing for battle.
The project is divided into a lower pedestal viewing platform and an upper framed sculpture. The lower base is 212’ by 136’ with a height of 50’ which is divided into three stories of concrete framing and bears on a system of 32″ diameter 20′ deep concrete piles. The upper sculpture is framed with red iron steel with a copper facade and stands 110’ tall. Base4 utilized finite element modeling software to model, design, and detail the complex upper steel framing.
Base4 partnered with EGS Architects in Shanghai to design this project. Base4 was responsible for all structural and MEP design for the structure. Design of the facility started in November of 2013 and was completed in January of 2014. Construction of the structure started last month.
